Find the call on the official journal website
Navigate from the publisher’s own journal page and compare the title, ISSN, editor details and deadline with the invitation. Confirm the submission route independently before uploading unpublished work. If the call cannot be verified, ask the journal through its published contact channel.
Evaluate the theme against your actual study
Read the collection’s aims and the journal’s normal scope. Identify which result or argument answers the collection’s question. Avoid reshaping claims beyond the evidence merely to use a deadline or invitation.
Understand editorial oversight and competing interests
Check who handles review and makes decisions. Publisher policies can distinguish guest-editor recommendations from final journal authority, and conflicts need appropriate handling. An editor’s involvement does not make your article exempt from the journal’s standards.
Confirm charges and timing in writing
Check article processing charges, access choices, waivers and any different arrangements for the collection. Distinguish the submission deadline from a promised publication date. Fees should be understood separately from any external editorial-service quote.
Keep a regular-journal alternative
Save the call, current requirements and submission acknowledgement. Ask what happens if the collection changes or closes while the paper is in review. Maintain an alternative journal shortlist without submitting the same manuscript simultaneously where prohibited. Guaranteed acceptance or purchased authorship should never be part of the plan.
