Read the application against the call
Create a checklist of eligibility, required sections, page limits, attachments and assessment criteria. A strong research idea can still be unsuitable for a particular call. Questions of eligibility should be resolved with the funder or research office.
Connect aims, methods and work packages
Show how each activity contributes to the research objective, who is responsible and what milestone will establish progress. Explain dependencies and practical risks. The proposal should distinguish achievable deliverables from longer-term aspirations.
Review the case for resources
The narrative and requested resources should describe the same project. Check whether staff time, equipment access, data collection and dissemination plans are explained consistently. Budget approvals, financial calculations and institutional commitments remain with the applicant and authorized office.
Prepare an organized final review
A review can produce annotated text, a criteria matrix and a list of unresolved questions. Leave time for collaborators to approve their roles and for the institution’s submission process. Editorial support cannot promise a funding decision.
Scope, files and delivery
Start with a short project brief. We assess the work, discuss the expertise required and confirm the deliverables, fee, schedule and included revisions in writing. Share the current version and the instructions that govern it. Additional data, a new target journal or a substantially changed brief may require a revised scope. You review the proposed changes and retain responsibility for the research.
